“You're off to Great Places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, So... get on your way!”

The weeks leading up to Thanksgiving have been extremely exciting! We have read many books about Thanksgiving, learned about Pilgrim children of the past and compared them to our lives today, wrote stories about pilgrims and Thanksgiving, and created many Thanksgiving projects! We also created a turkey that was disguised as many things, such as: a superhero, Santa, a dancer, Grandpa, and more (so he didn't become Thanksgiving dinner!) :)
On Tuesday, November 26, 2013, with our Native American feather hats on top of our heads, we had a classroom Thanksgiving feast! It was SO FUN! We could smell the bread baking in our room all morning! After lunch, we made homemade butter, sang a few holiday songs, tasted some pumpkin pie and cornbread, and enjoyed homemade bread with our butter! We even invited, Ms. Krejci, our assistant principal to make butter with us and enjoy our feast! It was like the "Best Day Ever!". See pictures below to see all of the fun we had!
Today, Ms. Riplinger's class and all of the other first grade classes were able to attend the zoo! We have been busy learning about all of the different animal families and their animal coverings this fall and were so excited to finally be able to see all the different kinds of animals! The students couldn't contain their excitement and they were shouting about everything they saw through the day! See all of the pictures below from our very exciting day!
