This week, it is a very fun week for our first graders. On Monday, we celebrated and learned all about leap day (see post below). Tuesday, we began our superhero week because we are learning the IR/ ER/ UR sound. We had a fun time making our Superhero masks! Today, we are celebrating our 120th day of first grade AND Dr. Seuss's birthday! We are now 120 days smarter! We made 120 day ties, read Dr. Seuss books, watched the movie "The Lorax", graphed goldfish for Dr. Seuss's book "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish", found a comfy reading spot and read around the room, did exercises in 120 seconds, drew what we thought we would look like at 120 years old, and learned about Dr. Seuss. Wow! That is a lot! Friday, the students are invited to dress as superheroes for their IR/ER/UR spelling test!
On Tuesday, March 3, Our first grade class celebrated Dr. Seuss Day, or "Read Across America Day". We had SOO much fun! We dressed in our pajamas and had a fun and relaxing day! We did Dr. Seuss projects, such as our Dr. Seuss hats and bow ties, and we read many Dr. Seuss books! We even had a chance to have a reading party, where we read all around the room! We used our chairs and reading spots, and we cuddled up with our blankets and stuffed animals! We LOVE to read!
We can't wait for the many fun Dr. Seuss projects and activities that we'll do throughout March!
