You may wonder, "What is a glog?". I was wondering the same thing until I was recently introduced to one! I feel it is important to bridge the learning from the classroom into the home, and I have researched many glogs that will do just that! A glog is an interactive poster, that includes photos, audio files, and video. In order to use a glog, click on the file or video you wish to see! On our class website, I have included glogs about summer reading, phonics sounds, numbers, addition/ subtraction practice, and even parent resources. The parent resources will help you help your child! All of the glogs are specifically categorized, and I encourage you to click on the topic you are interested in for easier access. It is with hope that first graders can create their own glog in the future, which will ultimately enhance their learning.
What is coming up this week? Earth day is tomorrow, and we will be doing many fun and exciting activities, including: exploring glogs, planting seeds, finishing our Lorax project, and learning about how we can take care of the Earth! I hope all of the first graders are as excited as I am! :) I will leave you with an excellent technology tool I came across this weekend: a typing website! It looks so fun, and I hope you all get a chance to try it out! Note: The characters speak in a British accent. The website has also been included on the "Fun Websites" page of our class website. Welcome, Room 117, to the fourth and final quarter! I am so very proud of each and everyone of you! Keep working hard and always trying your best!
Parents, encourage your child to always try their best these last few weeks of school. You are also encouraged to check on your child's academic progress using the parent portal of our online grade book. If anyone has any pictures from this school year, please email or turn them into Ms. Riplinger by the end of April. It is much appreciated! All photos are used for an end of school year slideshow! Again, it has been a pleasure working with all families of Room 117 this school year! I am so proud of you all! Keep it up! It was so exciting seeing all of the smiling first grade faces this morning! Everyone seemed so excited to be back at school and with their friends. Today, we did many Spring Break activities, and everyone was so excited to share what they did over break! We wrote a story and kept all of our spring break projects in our "Spring break suitcase"!
Get some rest, first graders! We have another fun and exciting day tomorrow! |
