Dear Room 117 Parents-
Wow! Thank you so much to all families who attended our Brodnicki School open house last night! We had such a FANTASTIC turn out last night- I was, and still am, so impressed! I am so grateful for the amount of parent and family support we have already had this year! A BIG thank you to everyone! As mentioned, and in addition to what was presented at our Open House, students should be expected to (by the end of the school year): * Read a level I book (more words on a page/ more difficult words and storyline) *Know and apply all 220 sight words taught throughout the year *Know how to apply the spelling patterns from the approximately 30 spelling lessons this year *Be able to recall their 0-10 addition facts in one minute, fluently *Know the concept of a city, state, and country *Understand the differences of the animal families and identify the characteristics of each *Be able to apply sounds to create words and write those words in a correct sentence (with a noun and action word, plus correct capital letter/ ending mark) *Be able to write a group of sentences with a topic sentence *Know how to be a good citizen *Understand the concepts of addition, subtraction, time, measurement, number order, and place value in math *Be able to apply reading strategies and concepts when reading Once we get more into the concepts of addition, I will be sending home information on how to access the Xtramath website (A great resource for addition fluency). Also, once I receive every child's log in information (username and password) for the online gradebook, I will send those home as well. Grades are updated every few days, at the very latest, so you will always be viewing the most current academic information online (regarding your child's grades). Again, thank you for the wonderful support that you give to your child's education. Ms. Riplinger |
