Well, we have made it through a week of first grade! We now know our classmates, are making new friends, finished our first project, shared our summer stories, are learning how to write words, and are learning different ways to write numbers! We also watched a Scholastic News video online (that you can watch at home) and discussed what it means to be a good citizen: patience, respect, being cooperative, responsible, and caring. (For the video, go to www.scholasticnews.com/sn1 and enter the password "brodnicki117").
On Friday, August 29, we got together with all of the other first grade classes at our school. We celebrated the end to our first week with popsicles and recess! It was a big surprise and we had a fun time! We can't wait for week 2 to begin! We had a wonderful first day of first grade! So far, we have had a lot of fun and have enjoyed seeing our friends again! Click on the pictures below to see all of the fun that we've had!
Thank you to those students and families that helped support our school Walk-a-Thon. Fun was had by all students today, as we walked around the front of our school with all of our friends! Music teacher, Ms. Loeffler, even played many of our favorite songs as we walked! Look below for all of the pictures from our day!
Welcome to the fourth quarter, first graders. We are now in our final weeks of school. We will have many fun activities planned for the upcoming weeks, but we still need to work hard on our class work!
Look below for pictures from our spring projects and events! On Thursday, February 20, 2014, all kindergarten and first grade students sang their little hearts out on stage in front of a LARGE crowd. Many parents, family, and friends came to support these little musicians! Ms. Riplinger is VERY proud of all of her Room 117 singers- each of them sang beautifully and showed off some wonderful dance moves! Those students who had speaking parts were very brave to speak in front of such a large crowd, but they did a fantastic job! See below for pictures and videos of the evening (and our afternoon practice)! Room 117 read 100 books, created 100th day crowns, had a "hibernation celebration" (since it was the day after Groundhog Day), and wrote about what we would do when we are 100 years old! See the pictures below of all of the fun we had (More pictures will also be posted in the future). Room 117 is also featured in the Brodnicki School Blog, called, "Bulldog Days".
